The Arabic Campaign will be a fully featured single player campaign focusing on the exploits of the Arabic forces during Firefly’s tongue-in-cheek rendition of the Crusades. A first for the Stronghold series, this new campaign will be comparable in length to the game’s Crusader campaign with around the same number of missions.
Players will assume the role of the mighty Saladin, rather than Richard the Lionheart. Commanding his troop of Arabic freedom fighters, after the invasion of their lands at the hands of the brutal Crusaders, the Saladin must rebuild his army, seek vengeance on those that betrayed him and take back what was lost to Richard and his armies.
“We hope fans enjoy this twist on the standard Stronghold formula, which gives the game a sense of balance and equal attention to the Arabic side of this historic conflict”, said Marketing Manager Nick Tannahill. “It’s almost a shame we had to reveal this early as it would have made a nice surprise for players, but hopefully they will still enjoy commanding the Saladin and the game’s new Arabic faction units”.
Scheduled for release in early 2014, Stronghold Crusader 2 will be digitally self-published by Firefly Studios. Additional funding is currently being sought through a new games-centric crowd funding platform Gambitious. Funds raised will be put toward an extended development cycle, a closed beta and additional game content.
