Today Carnyx was deployed as the first half of EVE Online’s “Summer of Sov.” In June and July, EVE’s stars will alight with glorious spaceship explosions thanks to dramatic improvements in the way player alliances capture, hold, and defend space in EVE. It’s only been a little over a month since Rhea was released and we’ve already deployed a batch of additions to EVE Online with Proteus as a part of our promise to improve and grow our legendary science fiction MMO and deliver frequent updates to all its infamous players. This blistering release cadence shows little concern for even holiday distractions it seems, as Proteus was successfully deployed today.

This past weekend, a sold out EVE Vegas 2014 player gathering saw over 500 EVE players from as far away as Australia descend upon Las Vegas’ Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino for 2+ days of presentations, round tables, parties, and a developer lead pub crawl on the Vegas strip. The livestreamed event included expert player presentations and hands on skirmishes of both EVE Online and EVE: Valkyrie, a virtual reality dogfighting game set to launch with Oculus Rift on PC and Sony’s Morpheus headset on PlayStation 4. CCP Games a leading independent developer of massively multiplayer games, today announced that EVE Online now offers French as a fully supported language alongside English, Russian, German, Japanese and Chinese (simplified). To mark the launch, CCP is hosting the first ever official French Player Gathering in Paris this Thursday 2 October, alongside a unique exhibition of art that includes the video installation previously hosted at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
