Avignon, France – October 9, 2026 – Independent developer Atlantis Studio has uncovered new details today about Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch, their upcoming two-player asymmetric co-op horror game, ahead of its worldwide launch on October 22, 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2. While players can now pre-order the game on the Nintendo eShop in Western markets, the studio has announced the participation of both acclaimed actor Troy Baker and award winning composer Oscar Araujo.
Troy Baker, Oscar Araujo and Q-Games join the Nightwatch
Troy Baker, renowned video games voice actor will be contributing his talent to Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch. Known for his work in The Last of Us, Death Stranding, BioShock Infinite and numerous other major video game titles, Baker has become one of the most recognizable performers in the medium.
The atmosphere of Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch is shaped by an original score from acclaimed composer Oscar Araujo (Castlevania: Lords of Shadow trilogy) responding to the game’s themes of isolation, uncertainty and mounting tension. Araujo’s score is woven directly into the experience of exploring the House, a place where players are never entirely certain what is around the next corner, or whether what they hear is a warning. Araujo’s involvement represents a long-standing creative connection for Atlantis Studio and brings a distinctive musical identity to the studio’s first original game.
The new trailer offers the clearest look yet at the Gloam, the mysterious entity haunting Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch. Atlantis Studio collaborated with Kyoto-based Q-Games, the studio behind the Cloudly technology used in ACE COMBAT 8, whose team contributed its animation expertise to bring the Gloam’s unsettling presence to life. The trailer also offers a closer look at the game’s distinctive two-player asymmetric horror experience, built around communication, observation and trust.
In Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch, one of the two players ventures into the darkness in first person, deep inside a house that seems to watch as much as it imprisons those who enter. Players search for clues, decipher signs and try to understand what is happening within its walls before the Gloam catches up with them.
The second player does not share the same perspective. From a network of cameras and tactical tools, they monitor, interpret, guide and warn. They see things differently. Sometimes they know more. Sometimes they understand less.
It is within this gap between perspectives that the tension of Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch emerges. The game is not only about what you see, but about what you manage to communicate. Learning to trust someone who cannot see what you see becomes a matter of survival.
Game Features:
- A Two-Player Horror Experience: A gameplay loop designed exclusively for two players. In this house, you cannot survive alone. Survival demands constant communication.
- Asymmetric Exploration: Combine information from two completely different perspectives to understand the House, solve its mysteries and stay alive.
- An Oppressive Environment: Explore a deeply unsettling and claustrophobic house filled with secrets and unseen threats.
- An Escape Guided by Communication: Give clear instructions, warn your partner of imminent dangers and coordinate every action if you hope to make it out alive.
- GameShare and Co-op: Designed from the outset as a two-player experience, the game allows players to team up through local co-op, GameShare, Local Network or online play.
Only one player needs to own the game. Thanks to the free Friend’s Pass, a second player can join the experience without purchasing an additional copy.
Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch lands on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 22, 2026 and eager fans can pre-order the game today on the Nintendo eShop. For more information and updates on the game, follow Atlantis Studio on X, Facebook, and YouTube.
