Tenjutsu debuts ass-kicking new gameplay trailer alongside Switch 2 announcement

Dead Cells designer Sébastien Benard’s fast-paced, full-blooded action roguelike Tenjutsu re-emerged from the shadows during today’s Nintendo Direct to reveal it will be coming to Switch 2 alongside PC in 2027 with a pulse-pounding new gameplay trailer.

Set within the densely packed, neon-soaked streets of Kuroboro City, Tenjutsu follows former yakuza Ten as she attempts to rebuild her life after returning home from prison. Unbeknownst to her, Kuroboro’s underground crime bosses see Ten’s release as a threat to their power, and will stop at nothing to eliminate her.

Ten must build on the foundation of her martial arts training with new techniques and weaponry if she’s to stand a chance against the three syndicates pursuing her, but she must choose her path carefully: every victory makes the survivors stronger, and the last one standing will be the most dangerous of all.

    BRAWL FOR ALL

True “one versus many” fast-paced martial arts combat system with endless room to define your own playstyle by combining melee, ranged and special weapons against ever changing enemies.

    OPEN FOR BUSINESS

A shifting randomized city you’re free to explore, with many tools to transform it to suit your own needs. Use Jokers to bend the city’s rules in your favor, building vending machines that fit your current needs, altering the content or pricing of shops, or choosing to heal yourself to keep fighting!

    DENTAL PLAN

Beat enemies and collect their “tattooed teeth” to obtain permanent advantages between your runs: expand the city, change the game rules, gain access to advanced weaponry, and more! Just don’t ask the mysterious Dentist any questions…

    NARRATIVE TAKEAWAY

Home is where the story unfolds. Between runs, many things will transpire in your apartment and Nanny Hoken’s ramen shop below. Visitors will come by, including your enemies! Mysteries will unfold, and daily life will paint a broader picture of life in Kuroboro.

Tenjutsu will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 and PC in 2027.
