Forge of Empires Celebrates History with a Year of In-Game Events

Forge of Empires begins its year of celebrating history today with its first of six special quest-lines: The Martin Luther King Event. In 2016, the cross-platform title plans to recognize past figures who made interesting contributions to our world, including lesser knowns such as Isadora Duncan, the famous American dancer who flouted social norms in the early 20th century, and Pope Gregory XIII for his introduction of the Gregorian calendar that includes our modern day leap year.

EVE: Valkyrie Alpha Test Begins January 18

Builders gonna build: Elvenar releases Ancient Wonders

Today, InnoGames released a major content update to its strategic fantasy-game Elvenar: The Ancient Wonders. From now on, every guest race will reward the player’s efforts with up to two unique buildings. Humans, Elves and Dwarves have their own Ancient Wonders in the research menu, the rare landmarks vary in looks and effects. To construct them, players will need to collect so called rune chards. VIDEO GAME LIVESTREAM PLATFORM HITBOX.TV CLOSES $4 MILLION GROWTH ROUND INCLUDING GAME DEVELOPER AND PUBLISHER, WARGAMING

Hitbox, home to millions of PC game livestreamers and esports enthusiasts, revealed it successfully closed a $4 million growth round of investment to expand its North American operations and worldwide reach. The round was led by Vienna-based VC-firm Speedinvest and also includes leading free-to-play MMO developer and publisher, Wargaming.net; North Base Media; as well as angel investors. Sean Lee, Chief Strategy Officer at Wargaming will join the board of directors. This investment follows a seed round of $1 million from angel investors, which closed in 2014.
