Windblown today received a brand-new Early Access update, adding a host of improvements and refinements to the lightning-fast action roguelite developed by Motion Twin, creators of Dead Cells. Additionally, fans looking for a reason to dive in can pick up Windblown with a 20% discount on Steam until July 9th as part of the Steam Summer Sale, starting June 26th.

The Gift system today received a huge overhaul, adjusting and fine-tuning various build-crafting options to create more synergies and options for both solo and multiplayer Leapers! Alongside revamps and tweaks to the existing Gifts players have already discovered, 17 new Gifts have also been added to the game which allow for even more variety and depth with builds and synergies. Additionally, an extra 16 new Hexed Gifts (powerful modifiers that add both huge boosts and deadly drawbacks to a build) have been added to the game, and they will also now occupy their own gear slot, allowing players to better craft their ultimate builds of destruction more than ever before. Players will also be able to see all the important items they collected across their various expeditions into the Vortex with the new in-game inventory menu as part of today’s update.
Alongside today’s revamp of the Gift system, two new weapons have been added into the mix for players to discover: the Impactone and the Jar. Players who have stepped into the Sanctuary biome may recognize the Impactone; a long-reaching weapon with slow attacks that can unleash two powerful beams of energy with its Alterattack. On the other hand, The Jar uses your Shells as ammunition – firing a series of shots that get stronger the further into the chain you get. Its Alterattack fires an even larger large shell that explodes on impact, splitting into multiple smaller projectiles to really ramp up its damage potential! Read today’s full patch notes here.
Today’s update also comes off the back of the recent ‘From the Leapers’ update in May, which added several new features inspired by feedback and suggestions from the game’s passionate community of players around the world.
Updates for Windblown throughout the Early Access period are based in part on community feedback and suggestions, reflecting Motion Twin’s philosophy of building the game alongside their fans and community members.
